Individuals

Most people encounter difficult or challenging experiences in their lives. Through individual counselling, clients are able to share the issues or concerns that they find difficult to deal with.

Examples include:
  • difficulty coping with change and challenging circumstances
  • repeated behaviour patterns that are detrimental to personal happiness or to relationship success
  • anxiety or depression
  • an inability to cope with the experience of life transitions
  • a need for support in managing grief and loss
  • struggling to making difficult decisions
  • relationship issues
  • parenting concerns

Couples

At some point most relationships enter a phase of conflict or stress. This may result from issues relating to marriage, parenting, separation and/or general ongoing difficulties with communication. When issues cannot be resolved by the couple themselves, professional assistance in the form of couples counselling can provide significant benefits that enhance the relationship.

Groups

Participants in a group are usually facing similar issues or share a common experience. As a facilitator, Dora connects group participants to allow them to provide understanding, support and encouragement to one another. Participants are therefore exposed to different perspectives, ideas and viewpoints within a supportive and non-judgemental environment.

Dora has facilitated groups for heath organisations, educational institutions and law firms covering issues such as self-esteem, confidence and communication skills. Currently, Dora facilitates a support group at the Royal Women’s Hospital and works as a sessional lecturer in Communications Study at Latrobe University.
